The mysterious Zohar made her debut playing at the DOGMA X SSFB: Night Stages party. That, though, was far from her first rodeo. This Dutch producer has been around the block; that shines through in the exclusive mix she crafted for the 20th entry of our Mix Series. Let’s get to know her a little better, shall we?
Hello Zohar, how’s it going?
Hi! I’m very good, thank you. Packing my bags for Monis Rache festival this weekend. Looking forward to it.
Zohar’s new to a lot of people, but you’ve been playing for a while now under a different moniker. Can you tell us a bit more about your path before ending up here at SSFB?
That’s true. I’ve been playing music for a pretty long time now. And that’s really what I want to be doing for as long as I can. I’ve come across a lot of emotions and sides of myself over the years that changed me as a person. I think this path has been a very slow unpeeling of myself, which sounds gross, but true. Zohar feels like something I had to grow into. Now it’s here. ☺︎
You played a closing set with mad miran at the Noorderschip during the festival. How did it go?
We were both really nervous before our set because it was my very first Zohar set and Miran’s first b2b. We had only met once, but our mutual friends were really convinced that it would be a cool fit. Five minutes in and we were more relaxed and having so much fun. The location was perfect for it and she was the coolest.
Can you tell us a bit more about the mix you made for us?
I’ve always dreamt of making music for film. Dramatic, dark, melancholic captures. You can hear that in this mix. A friend who gave me feedback told me that everything comes together in the middle. She’s right. Oh, and I’ve included one of my upcoming releases in it too!
Any future plans?
Yes, Zohar’s first release. Four tracks on vinyl. I’ve been working on this for the past year and a half. It’s scary but I’m ready. ☺︎
Thanks Zohar, and see you soon!
